The Shared Toilets Charter

Because what's left after me is what the next person finds, I commit to:

  1. 1Leaving the place as clean as I found it.
  2. 2Flushing and checking everything is gone.
  3. 3Wiping the seat if I splashed.
  4. 4Lowering the seat and lid when leaving.
  5. 5Washing my hands, actually, not just wetting them.
  6. 6Reporting if something is missing (paper, soap, damage).
  7. 7Respecting others' needs (kids, pregnant people, accessibility).

I know toilets are not just a service — they are a common good.

Why this Charter?

We tend to think public toilet cleanliness is the venue's responsibility. That's 50% true. The other 50% is us, the users. No one wants to lecture — but no one wants to walk into a toilet left in an impossible state just because someone didn't take 30 seconds to lower the seat either.

This Charter isn't a moral lesson. It's a pact between us. Seven simple commitments that change the experience for the person right after you.
